Description: The SAR 750 class was a class of 10 locomotives, originally from the newer batch of VR N Class locomotives which entered service from 1950 to 1951, and were built by the North British Locomotive Company. The SAR used the 750 class to cover a shortage of locomotives they were facing at the time. The class consisted of locomotives 750-759. They were used to supplement the Rx class locomotives on lighter duties, especially branch line services. 752 outlived the rest of the class, last operating in November 1964 and entering the Mile End Railway Museum on 14 April 1967. It was later transferred to the National Railway Museum, Port Adelaide with the rest of the MERM collection where it remains today. However, due to a lack of undercover space, it is currently stored outside, becoming affected by weather.
