Version 3, numerous improvements to route. In the early 1850s, the massive front of the Allegheny Mountains, standing 2,161 feet above sea level, blocked westward advance of the Pennsylvania Railroad. This obstacle culminated in the creation of the Gallitzin Tunnels and the Horseshoe Curve, both of which have become attractions for railfans across the world.
This is still a work in progress, however I think its about time I shared it so others can enjoy too! This route covers the 17mi between Rose Yard in Altoona and Cresson, PA. As much as I'd love to extend it to Johnstown, this is it for now. Feel free to extend it as you wish, but I ask that you do not share without my permission.
