Description: A reskin of Bdaneal's UP 119 4-4-0 model meant to represent a late 19th-century vintage PRR 4-4-0 American. Based on the HO scale model by Bachmann. Credit to Bdaneal for the original mesh. Union Pacific #119 was one of 5 4-4-0s built by Rogers Locomotive Works in November 1868 for the Union Pacific Railroad. #119 was built for freight service and designed to burn coal. It isn't known when #119 arrived in Omaha, but it was probably early 1869. When it arrived it was sent to Wyoming, where there were many coal mines along the line. On May 10th, 1869, #119 faced Central Pacific's Jupiter when the rails of the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific were connected, completing the first Transcontinental Railroad. In the early 1880s, #119 was rebuilt, and in 1885 was renumbered to #343. In April 1903, #343, nee-#119 was scrapped. Drivers: 54 in Cylinders: 16 x 24 in Weight: 54,000 lbs Note on the data: This model is based mostly on Virginia & Truckee #22, since I have just one drawing of #119. V&T 22 is similar, but by no means identical. V&T 22 data: Drivers: 57 in Cylinders: 16 x 24 in |
