Description:
The United States Army Transportation Corps (USATC) S100 class 0-6-0T steam locomotive was designed for use in Europe, North Africa and Great in 1943 Britain and stored awaiting an invasion of Mainland EuroWWll.After the war The SR needed to replace the ageing B4, D1 and E1 class tanks used in Southampton Docks.Although it`s designed was ideal for (shunting) duties,it was able to haul heavy freight trains. The Southern Railway (GB) bought 15 S100's and designated them USA Class. Other S100's entered British industrial use with the National Coal Board, Longmoor Military Railway and others.
